End of Summer Picks!

Jan Karon has released a new novel in her Father Tim series called, “Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good”. Lee Child also has a new book out and his favorite character, Jack Reacher, makes an appearance in it.

Things are staring to quiet down here at the beach. It’s a great time for bird watching and surf fishing (we’ve got some guides for it). These are indeed the lazy days of the end of summer. Come on down to the beach, the living is easy!

A Big Week for Books!

There’s a lot happening in the book world this week.  Wally Lamb releases “We are Water”,  he’s a phenomenal writer and one of our favorites.  Then John Grisham publishes “Sycamore Row”  where Jake Brigance is the main character again, as he was in “A Time To Kill”.  And yes, we’ve stocked up on a “Time To Kill” if you want to refresh your memory.

Brad Meltzer tries his hand at non-fiction with “History Decoded: 10 Greatest Conspiracies of Our Time”  and Donna Tartt releases “The Goldfinch”–remember, she wrote  “The Secret History.”

And for our fantasy fans, Veronica Roth releases the third in her Divergent Series “Allegiant.”  Wow, what a week!!

Book Signing with Diane Chamberlain

We had such a lovely time when Diane came to visit Back Street Cafe and sign copies of her latest book for us Necessary Lies which hit bookstores September 3rd. We were all so thrilled to hear her read and we can’t wait to have her back again. Here is a video from the event created by the wonderful Creatadore Company that has captured so many of our wonderful events from this summer!

A Few New Ones For You!

Just finished reading The Husbands Secret by Liane Moriarty, it’s a great story set in Australia. It’s reminiscent of a cross between Jodi Picoult and Kate Morton. Also, out this week is Robyn Carr’s The Hero, A Thunder Point Novel. If you liked last year’s Best Selling Gone Girl, give  A.S.A Harrison’s The Silent Wife a try. These last sweet days of summer are here, it’s a great chance to get some reading in!
